• Sikkim has launched India’s first Himalayan Specialty Coffee Impact District in North Sikkim through a public-private partnership.
• The initiative aims to develop a globally competitive specialty coffee industry while strengthening Sikkim’s internationally recognised organic farming brand.
• North Sikkim’s high-altitude terrain, cool climate, and organic soils provide ideal conditions for producing premium coffee with distinctive flavour profiles.
• The programme will complement the region’s renowned Sikkim Mandarin and large cardamom cultivation, promoting agricultural diversification and enhancing farmers’ incomes.
