The Quadrangular Security Grid, proposed after the Land Border Districts’ SP Conference–2026, aims to create a localized security network involving border communities and police across 119 districts in 17 States/UTs. It is expected to be finalised within 1.5 years.

For Assam, which shares an international border with Bangladesh, such a community-linked security mechanism can strengthen border surveillance, intelligence sharing and early detection of infiltration, smuggling and other threats. It promotes a people-centric approach to border management alongside conventional security measures.
