Assam recorded the highest number of earthquakes with epicentres within the state in September. The Northeast region also reported the country’s highest regional total, with 37 earthquakes, highlighting the region’s high seismic vulnerability.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, its network of 177 monitoring stations detected 91 earthquakes within Indian territory during the period. Of these, 37 occurred in the Northeast and 22 in northern India, underscoring the importance of seismic monitoring and disaster preparedness.
