The Assam Cabinet has approved over ₹109 crore for infrastructure development at Gauhati University, aimed at strengthening facilities for higher education, teaching and research.
The university also shared a significant association with Dr. Bhabendra Nath Saikia, one of Assam’s celebrated intellectuals, writers and filmmakers. He served as Secretary of the Coordination Committee for Production of Textbooks in Regional Languages, leading efforts to develop college-level textbooks in Assamese, particularly helping bridge complex scientific subjects with regional-language education.
