Harakanta Basumatary, a palm oil cultivator from Assam, has been selected for the Assam Gaurav award in recognition of his contribution to agriculture.
His recognition highlights the importance of promoting oil palm cultivation, diversifying agricultural practices and encouraging farmers to adopt alternative crops to strengthen rural livelihoods and support domestic edible oil production.
