The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has accepted in principle a proposal submitted by North Lakhimpur University (NLU) Vice-Chancellor Mukul Chandra Bora for the inclusion of Environmental Humanities in higher education curricula across India.
The proposed framework seeks to integrate environmental concerns with disciplines such as humanities, social sciences, culture, ethics and Indian Knowledge Systems through a multidisciplinary approach. AIU will circulate the proposal among its member universities for feedback before developing a broader policy framework. The initiative aims to strengthen environmental awareness and promote a holistic understanding of sustainability among students.
