Commercial operation of the fourth 250 MW unit of the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project began recently, increasing the project’s operational capacity to 1,000 MW out of the planned 2,000 MW.
Developed by NHPC Limited, the project is one of the largest hydroelectric initiatives in India and is being commissioned in phases. The project is expected to strengthen power generation, improve energy security and support infrastructure development in the North-East region through enhanced hydroelectric capacity.
