North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation has launched Padma Doree, a unique initiative blending Northeast India’s Eri (Ahimsa) silk with the traditional Chanderi weaving of Madhya Pradesh.
The project combines the durability and warmth of Eri silk with the fine texture and intricate motifs of Chanderi, creating a fusion of two heritage crafts. It promotes cultural integration, value addition and new market opportunities for artisans across regions.
