The Young People’s Action Group (YPAG), launched in Shillong, has emerged as the Northeast’s first formally institutionalised platform for youth participation in climate and health policymaking. The initiative was developed through collaboration between UNICEF India and the Centre for Policy under Meghalaya’s MPOWER project.
For Assam, the initiative highlights the importance of structured youth engagement in environmental governance, disaster resilience and public health planning, especially in a region increasingly affected by climate-related challenges.
