India has supplied 13 tonnes of Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccines to Afghanistan, supporting public health efforts. BCG is a live attenuated vaccine primarily used to protect against tuberculosis and is routinely administered to newborns worldwide.
Developed by Albert Calmette and Camille Guerin at the Pasteur Institute, it was first used in 1921. The initiative highlights India’s role in global health cooperation and disease prevention.
