The Assam Cabinet has approved the renaming of the Mini Secretariat, Barak Valley, as the Assam Secretariat, Barak Valley, Silchar. Located at Srikona, the new Secretariat is intended to strengthen administrative coordination and governance in the Barak Valley.
The Secretariat will accommodate 32 of the 59 government departments, including several major departments, bringing important administrative functions closer to the people of the region.
