Cybercriminals register these fake domains or packages to steal user credentials, spread malware, or conduct phishing attacks.
One common form is Phantom Squatting (Internet Domains), where attackers create and register website domains that AI chatbots mistakenly recommend despite the domains never having existed. Unsuspecting users visiting these fake sites may become victims of data theft or malware attacks.
