The Assam Cabinet has granted administrative sanction for ₹2,100 crore for land acquisition and development of the Aerotropolis Satellite City Project in Guwahati. The project is part of the state’s broader strategy to create new urban infrastructure and promote planned expansion around the Guwahati region.
An aerotropolis is an urban development model centred on a major airport, where land use, transport networks, commercial activities and economic infrastructure are planned around the airport. It seeks to leverage aviation connectivity as a driver of urban growth, trade, investment and employment.
