Scientific organic agriculture in Northeast India is being promoted through a major initiative led by NECTAR under the project “Promoting Scientific Organic Agriculture in Northeast India.” The programme operates under the PM-DevINE scheme of the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) and aims to strengthen sustainable farming and rural livelihoods.
The three-year project plans to establish 250 organic-certified clusters across the region by integrating modern scientific practices with traditional farming systems. Key components include farmer capacity building, demonstration farm laboratories, distribution of certified organic seeds and planting materials, and soil health awareness using the VASUNDHARA Soil Organic Carbon and Soil pH Detection Kit.
