Assam’s Rangpur-Sivasagar Historic Ensemble has been submitted to UNESCO’s Tentative List as a cultural heritage site, strengthening its prospects for future World Heritage recognition. The ensemble includes iconic Ahom-era structures such as Rang Ghar, Talatal Ghar, Sivadol, Joysagar and Gaurisagar tanks, Ghanashyam House and Namdang Stone Bridge.

A major feature is the Ahoms’ sophisticated water-management system, integrating tanks, embankments and drainage. Active temples, festivals, rituals and traditional practices further demonstrate the living cultural continuity of the historic landscape.
