The administrations of Kolasib district in Mizoram and Cachar district in Assam are preparing a joint inter-state border festival at Vairengte to promote peace, strengthen border security and foster harmony among communities living along the boundary.
Located at Mizoram’s northern gateway on NH-306, Vairengte also hosts the Counter-Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS), established in 1970. The Indian Army institution specialises in guerrilla and unconventional warfare, with the motto “Fight the Guerrilla Like a Guerrilla.”
