An expanded edition of Chandrakanta Abhidhan, the historic Assamese-to-English dictionary, is expected to be launched in Assam. Originally compiled and published by Asam Sahitya Sabha in 1933, it played an important role in documenting Assamese vocabulary.
In 1987, Gauhati University brought out its third edition, edited by Maheswar Neog and Upendranath Goswami. The dictionary contains 36,816 words and has also been available online since 2009, strengthening access to Assamese linguistic resources.
