The Directorate of Home Guards & Civil Defence, Assam is being modernised under various Central Government modernisation schemes. The initiative includes the procurement of advanced weapons, introduction of computers, addition of new vehicles, construction of modern infrastructure, specialised training in civil defence, and capacity building in disaster response.
The modernisation programme also includes the procurement of Collapsible Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) equipment, inflatable lighting towers, and Outboard Motor (OBM) boats for effective rescue operations during floods, earthquakes, and other disasters, thereby enhancing the state’s emergency preparedness and disaster response capabilities.
