Mizoram’s State Government is testing a monorail system to help farmers transport vegetables from steep hillside farms, where moving produce manually or constructing roads is difficult. The initiative seeks to address logistical challenges associated with agricultural production in the state’s fragile and rugged terrain.
The pilot project is being implemented by the Mizoram Science, Technology and Innovation Council (MISTIC) in the Mualpheng area. The system could provide an alternative mode of farm-to-market transportation while reducing the need for extensive road construction across vulnerable hill slopes.
