Assam’s dairy sector received a boost with the launch of a 20,000-litre-per-day (LPD) milk processing plant at Shantipur, Jamugurihat, Sonitpur district. The facility will source its entire milk supply from local dairy farmers, strengthening market access and supporting rural livelihoods.
The plant contributes to the state government’s target of increasing milk production to 10 lakh litres per day. The government is also undertaking digital registration of milk cooperative societies to strengthen cooperative networks, improve formalisation and enhance the organisation of Assam’s dairy sector.
