The 2026 Global Inequality Research Award (GiRA) was presented to Jean Drèze on June 5, 2026, at the World Inequality Conference at the Paris School of Economics. The biennial award is jointly organised by the World Inequality Lab (WIL) and Sciences Po’s Center for Research on Social Inequalities (CRIS).

Drèze was recognised for his pioneering research on poverty and inequality measurement in India and his contributions to major social-policy initiatives, including the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) and the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
