Tripura’s first tea auction centre, being established at Gurkhabasti in West Tripura district, is expected to become operational by April. The facility will reduce dependence on existing auction hubs such as Guwahati and Kolkata, where Tripura growers currently send their produce, often incurring higher costs and delays.
India presently has seven tea auction centres, and the new unit is expected to improve market access, price discovery, and logistical efficiency for tea producers in the State.
