Siris (Albizia lebbeck) is a leguminous tree belonging to the Fabaceae family. Like other legumes, it develops root nodules that host nitrogen-fixing bacteria, traditionally associated with the genus Rhizobium.

These bacteria convert atmospheric nitrogen into forms usable by plants, improving soil fertility. When grown in tea plantations, Siris can support nutrient enrichment, enhance soil health and contribute to sustainable plantation management.
