The Directorate of Environment and Climate Change (DoECC) in Manipur has mapped over 1,000 springs across the State. Of these, 173 critical springs in Ukhrul and Noney districts have been prioritised for revival under a dedicated scheme, recognising their role in drinking water security and ecosystem health.
The department has also released an environment calendar as part of its information and awareness programme on key environmental events and observances at the State, national, and global levels. The first such calendar was launched in 2013.
