Saikhom Kamlakanta Singha, former president of the All Assam Manipuri Students’ Union, was a prominent social activist and community leader from Itkhola, Silchar. He was widely recognised for his efforts to safeguard the language, culture and social rights of the Manipuri community in Assam.

Affectionately known as “Oja”, meaning teacher or mentor, he devoted decades to guiding the Manipuri community and preserving its linguistic and socio-cultural identity. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed grief over his demise.
