The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a first-of-its-kind initiative to develop pollinator or “Bee Corridors” along national highways. The project aims to create pollinator-friendly green stretches with flowering plants to support honeybees and other pollinating species.
The initiative seeks to reduce ecological stress on pollinators, whose declining populations are affecting crop pollination, agricultural productivity, and ecosystem balance. By integrating biodiversity conservation with highway development, the programme promotes sustainable infrastructure practices.
