Human skeletal remains discovered in Thingkuang cave, Saitual district, have been carbon-dated to 1260–1320 CE. The find, made on January 11, 2025, includes skeletons, skulls, femurs, and earthen pot fragments.

Analysis of these remains can help trace the ancestry of the population, provide insights into diet and health, and illuminate possible migration routes into present-day Mizoram. Historians consider the discovery significant for reconstructing the region’s medieval history and understanding its demographic and cultural evolution.
