Residents of Bamsiakilwa village in Peren District declared the Daukeling Hebamlo Community Conserved Area (CCA) to protect the rare Asiatic Golden Cat.
The initiative is regarded as the world’s first Community Conserved Area dedicated specifically to the conservation of the Asiatic Golden Cat. It represents a significant example of community-led conservation and highlights the growing role of local communities in protecting biodiversity and wildlife habitats in Northeast India.
