Kharung Pat in Kakching district of Manipur has been notified as a wildlife sanctuary by the Manipur Government.
Spread across around 227 hectares, Kharung Pat is the third largest freshwater lake in the state after Loktak and Pumlen lakes. The wetland is considered ecologically and historically significant and supports rich biodiversity and wetland ecosystems.
