Assam cabinet has decided to rename Tea Tribes Welfare Department as Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare Department and Directorate of Tea Tribes Welfare to be renamed as Directorate of Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare to honour the sentiments of Adivasi and Tea Tribes.
