Assam Cabinet on Tuesday, September 24, approved a proposal to remove pay disparities between certain positions in the Directorate of Land Records & Surveys (DLR&S).
This move aims to bring uniformity to the pay scales of Computer Grade-II, Grade-I, Head Computer, and Traversers, ensuring equal pay for similar nature of work and other technical qualifications.
Previously, despite holding similar responsibilities and technical qualifications, cadres of Computers and Traversers had different pay scales, which led to dissatisfaction among employees.
Definition of Traverser
A traverser in land records is a person who denies or contests the accuracy of a claim made about land ownership, boundary demarcation, or land title. For example, if a government authority or another individual asserts that a specific piece of land belongs to them, the traverser can deny or challenge this claim.
A traverse is a land survey technique that involves measuring successive angles and distances to establish new positions. It is often used to create a skeleton plan of a village by establishing fixed points near its boundaries.
