The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the use of pink balls in day Test matches affected by adverse weather conditions, aiming to reduce loss of playing time and improve the chances of achieving a result.
Under the proposed arrangement, a Test match will begin with the traditional red ball. If poor light conditions arise, floodlights may be switched on and the pink ball introduced to continue play safely and make up for overs that might otherwise be lost. The decision is expected to enhance match continuity while maintaining playing standards.
