Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is expected to visit Assam during her proposed visit to India, highlighting the growing strategic importance of the Northeast in India–Japan relations.
The visit is likely to include discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on expanding cooperation in areas such as security, economic engagement, technology and regional connectivity. The discussions are expected to build upon the Japan–India Joint Vision for the Next Decade, a 10-year strategic roadmap adopted in 2025 to strengthen the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two countries.
The Joint Vision focuses on eight key pillars: economic partnership, economic security, mobility, ecological sustainability, technology and innovation, health, people-to-people exchanges and sub-national cooperation.
