Culture & Heritage
The Ao Morung has been awarded ‘Best Morung 2025’ at the Hornbill Festival, celebrating the craftsmanship, cultural expression, and community spirit of the Ao Naga tribe.
A Morung is a traditional Naga youth dormitory—an essential cultural institution where unmarried young men traditionally learned tribal customs, hunting and warfare skills, craft techniques, folklore, and community ethics under the guidance of elders. It functioned as a key centre for education, social cohesion, cultural transmission, and village defence.
APSC relevance: Important for tribal institutions, Naga cultural heritage, and Northeast anthropological traditions.
