Pilak, located in the South Tripura district of Tripura, is an ancient archaeological site renowned for its rich collection of 8th–12th-century Hindu and Buddhist sculptures and ruins. The site reflects the religious and cultural coexistence of Hinduism and Buddhism in the region during the early medieval period.
Pilak’s archaeological remains exhibit diverse artistic influences, including those of the Gupta and Pala dynasties of Bengal and the Arakan style of Myanmar. Its sculptures and architectural remains provide valuable insights into the religious traditions, artistic exchanges and cultural connections of Northeast India with neighbouring regions.
