The Story of the Gourd

• The Story of the Gourd, a traditional Wancho folktale from the Patkai Hills in Longding district, Arunachal Pradesh, is being adapted into an animated short film, marking the first known animation based on a Wancho indigenous story.
• The folktale was selected for its rich portrayal of Wancho cultural traditions, folklore, and indigenous heritage.
• A pre-production workshop held at NEHU in 2021 brought together students, scholars, media professionals, and Wancho community members to develop the screenplay, storyboard, character designs, and animation concepts.
