Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has successfully performed robotic-assisted cardiac procedures, including Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) and mitral valve surgery, for the first time in the region. The milestone marks an important advancement in Assam’s public healthcare infrastructure.
Robotic-assisted surgery combines three-dimensional visualisation and robotic precision, enabling surgeons to undertake complex cardiac procedures through smaller incisions. The initiative could expand access to advanced cardiac care while strengthening the capabilities of the public healthcare system in the Northeast.
