The Union Cabinet has approved a modified version of the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme for the period 2026–27 to 2035–36 with a total outlay of ₹28,840 crore. The scheme aims to enhance regional air connectivity by making air travel affordable and accessible.
Key components include development of 100 airports, construction of 200 modern helipads, and operational support for around 441 aerodromes. It also provides viability gap funding to airlines, ensuring connectivity to remote and underserved regions, especially in the Northeast.
