Scientists exploring limestone cave systems in the Khasi Hills of Meghalaya discovered two new microsnail species — Georissa meghalayaensis and Acmella bensoni.

The species were found in Krem Puri and Arwah Cave. The discovery highlights the rich but understudied biodiversity of Northeast India. Researchers also reported the first record of Georissa from Mizoram and additional records from Manipur, expanding the known distribution of the genus.
