CAMPA (Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority) has approved a study to prepare a conservation and recovery action plan for Gangetic River Dolphin. The initiative is aimed at strengthening India’s freshwater biodiversity conservation efforts through a scientifically guided recovery framework.

The action plan is expected to enhance protection of the endangered species, particularly in the Brahmaputra river system, where river dolphins face increasing threats from habitat degradation, pollution, and other human-induced pressures.
