A century-old land record of the Kamakhya Devalaya, dating to 1904–05, was handed over to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 19 during the inauguration of the Integrated District Commissioner’s Office in Guwahati. The document provides a valuable record of the historical administration of land associated with the Nilachal Hills.
The archival document is particularly significant as one of the oldest surviving Devottar Grant Jamabandi records, reflecting the land administration framework that developed after the implementation of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation, 1886.
