Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the establishment of one Kendriya Vidyalaya and six new Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) in Assam besides 22 others across previously uncovered districts to enhance access to quality education in rural areas.
In Assam, the new NVs will be established in Sonitpur, Charaideo, Hojai, Majuli, West Karbi Anglong, and South Salmara-Mankachar.
The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with most NVs designated as PM Shri Schools, serving as models for NEP implementation.
Additionally, 1 Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) is to be set up in Jagiroad. Notably, the CCEA has sanctioned the establishment of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across India under the Civil and Defence sectors
