Governance & Inclusive Access

The UPSC has launched a major accessibility reform by introducing the ‘Centre of Choice’ facility for all Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), ensuring that no eligible candidate is denied an exam centre they prefer.

Under the strategy adopted by the Commission, the existing capacity of each centre will first be utilised by both PwBD and non-PwBD candidates. Once a centre reaches full capacity, it will stop appearing as an option for non-PwBD candidates, but PwBD candidates can continue selecting it. The UPSC will then arrange additional capacity to ensure every PwBD applicant receives the centre of their choice.

This marks a significant step toward making national examinations more inclusive, equitable, and accessible.
