Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with NIPER Guwahati to develop processes for producing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) using petroleum and biomass-based resources. The collaboration aims to strengthen indigenous capabilities in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
APIs are the active components in medicines responsible for therapeutic effects and are produced through chemical synthesis, fermentation or extraction. This initiative supports self-reliance in drug production and promotes integration of the energy and pharmaceutical sectors.
