A. The railways authorities of Turkiye, China, Australia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan recently agreed to create the Eurasian Transport Route International Association with its headquarters in Baku.
The collegial body was necessary to make the Middle Corridor, or the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), more attractive and competitive
The TITR runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and on to Turkiye and European countries. The operational Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is part of the corridor.
B. IAS officer Megha Nidhi Dahal from Sikkim has been appointed as the Transport Commissioner of Government of Assam.
C. number of permanent ASTC employees has now been reduced to 500. The number of contractual or temporary employees stands at 2300.
An amount of Rs 105 crore was earmarked in the state budget for the employees, with Rs 55 crore to provide VRS payments and Rs 50 crore for regular retiring employees.
