Science and Education

SHINE is a national science outreach program launched in 2024 by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in collaboration with the Department of Health Research (DHR). It aims to inspire school students towards careers in health and biomedical research.

The program has reached over 13,000 students across 300 schools in 16 states/UTs, offering immersive learning through lab visits, research exhibitions, and live demonstrations. It also provides direct career guidance from ICMR scientists and uses the mascot ‘Dr. Curio’ to engage students.

By connecting education with real-world scientific challenges, SHINE promotes youth interest in science and strengthens public health awareness among the next generation
