The BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment & Employment) policy of the Central Government prioritises the Northeast as a key region for bioeconomic growth. Under the Biotechnology Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (Bio-RIDE) scheme, 10% of the budget for biomanufacturing and biofoundry components is earmarked for the region to boost startups and innovation.
This initiative aims to transform India’s biotechnology sector and achieve a $300 billion bioeconomy by 2030. It offers the Northeast an opportunity to emerge as a hub for bio-based industries, driving employment, sustainable development and global competitiveness.
