India emphasised the need to adopt a “zero-tolerance approach” towards terrorism in all its forms for development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states
Giridhar Aramane put forth New Delhi’s stand in this regard as he participated in the SCO defence ministers’ meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Some effective ways to combat terrorism include:
Counterterrorism legislation: Enacting and enforcing laws specifically targeting terrorism and providing legal frameworks for prosecuting terrorists and their supporters.
Countering violent extremism (CVE): Implementing programs to address the root causes of terrorism, such as socioeconomic grievances, radicalization, and recruitment.
Rehabilitation and reintegration: Providing rehabilitation and reintegration programs for former terrorists and individuals at risk of radicalization to prevent future acts of terrorism.
