The action was taken under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, signalling strict enforcement against deceptive claims in the coaching sector.

A misleading advertisement (Section 2(28)) includes false statements, concealment of important facts, or exaggerated promises that can mislead consumers. The Act also provides product liability provisions, fixing responsibility on manufacturers, service providers, and sellers for harm caused by defective goods or deficient services.
