Manipur’s Directorate of Environment and Climate Change (DoECC), in collaboration with local communities, is intensifying its ‘Garbage to Garden’ initiative to convert riverbanks into green, sustainable spaces. The project seeks to rejuvenate rivers, promote cleanliness, and engage citizens in environmental stewardship.
As part of the initiative, the Nambul Riverfront Garden at Keishamthong, Imphal, was recently developed and inaugurated during the month-long Swachhata Campaign that began on October 2. Local clubs and residents along the riverbanks participated in the drive to promote river conservation and urban beautification.
